What You’ll Do

This is a contract Purchasing/Buyer role supporting a Confidential Client in the medical device industry. You will manage purchasing and supplier activities for Make-to-Order (MTO) materials and support supplier qualification and quality processes.

  • Material number creation and maintenance (new & existing items; define critical material numbers)
  • Manage ARAVO supplier activities (add new suppliers, link suppliers to systems such as 1151)
  • Forecast materials for MTO and maintain RMS/material records
  • Initiate and process new supplier requests in ARAVO and SAP
  • Support supplier communication, investigations and corrective actions (SCAR)
  • Assist in determining service/product risk classification
  • Remove disqualified suppliers from Approved Supplier List and coordinate with North American Shared Service Center (NASSC)
  • Lead Supplier Qualification Team (SQT) activities and meetings when new suppliers are identified
  • Partner with Supplier Quality on qualification or supplier-related projects
  • Review procurement documentation and support internal stakeholders’ requirements

Requirements

Must-haves (required on resume):

  • Purchasing experience — 1–2 years
  • Experience with FDA or ISO (quality/regulatory environment)
  • Supplier QA experience

Other required/expected qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field
  • Familiarity with ARAVO and SAP (or willingness to learn quickly)
  • Experience or exposure to ISO 13485 and medical device procurement is strongly preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work independently and follow documented quality systems

Contract Details & Schedule

  • Location: San Diego, CA (onsite)
  • Duration: 6 months (W2 contract)
  • Hours: 40 hours/week, 1st shift — typically 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Pay: $20–25 per hour (USD)
  • Employment type: Contract (W2) — candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.; U.S. citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply
