What You’ll Do

The Business Intelligence Analyst will translate business needs into reliable reports and dashboards, working closely with finance, operations, customer service, and manufacturing stakeholders. This is an entry-level role with structured mentorship and clear paths to grow into data engineering, advanced analytics, or broader IT application work.

  • Partner with business users to gather reporting requirements, define KPIs, and document acceptance criteria.
  • Maintain a prioritized backlog of reporting requests and coordinate with IT leadership on delivery timelines.
  • Develop, publish, and maintain Power BI reports and interactive dashboards.
  • Automate manual Excel reporting (PivotTables, Power Query) to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Validate report results against source systems (including Monarch ERP and Smartsheet) before publishing.
  • Manage Power BI workspaces, user access, and scheduled refreshes.
  • Inventory and document data sources, tables, and fields used across reports.
  • Maintain a business glossary and data dictionary with standardized metric definitions.
  • Identify data quality issues and help resolve inconsistent metrics across departments.
  • Document source-to-report mappings to support a centralized data warehouse initiative.
  • Train end users on dashboards, collect feedback, and recommend iterative improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or related field — or equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, lookups, Power Query).
  • Exposure to Power BI, Tableau, or another BI platform via coursework, internships, or projects.
  • Basic SQL skills (SELECT, filtering, joins, aggregations).
  • Strong written and verbal communication — able to explain data to non-technical audiences.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and validation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Internship or project experience in manufacturing, distribution, or a related industry.
  • Familiarity with DAX and data modeling concepts (star schemas, fact and dimension tables).
  • Exposure to ERP data (orders, inventory, billing, production).
  • Microsoft PL-300 (Power BI Data Analyst) certification or active progress toward certification.
  • Interest in Power Automate and AI tools to streamline reporting and processes.
  • Familiarity with advanced Smartsheet features (Data Shuttle, Control Center).

First-Year Success Measures

  • Establish standardized requirements documentation and maintain a business data dictionary.
  • Replace high-priority manual reports with automated Power BI dashboards.
  • Deliver documented source-to-report mappings to support the centralized data warehouse effort.

Why Apply — Candidate Experience & Growth

This role is designed for candidates early in their BI careers who want hands-on ownership of reporting, close collaboration with business stakeholders, and mentorship toward technical growth areas (data engineering, analytics, or IT applications). The Confidential Client supports development through on-the-job coaching and opportunity to work on cross-functional projects that impact operations and finance.
