What You’ll Do
This is an entry-level, full-time Business Development Trainee position designed as a 1.25–2 year development program to prepare you for a sales career in diesel and commercial trucking services. You will rotate through dealership operations, customer-facing roles, and focused prospecting activities to learn the full sales cycle across Parts, Service, Rental, Used & New Trucks, Lease, and other client solutions.
Key responsibilities:
- Complete a three-phase training curriculum: Dealership Rotation (3 months), Business & Enterprise Learning (15 months), Growth Activities & Prospecting (6 months)
- Support Parts and Service teams to learn day-to-day operations and customer engagement
- Perform rental sales, parts/service support, lead-generation, event coordination, and sales support tasks
- Shadow sales and operations leaders to learn enterprise tools (CRM, SmartSpec/TMI) and best practices
- Develop prospecting lists, generate cross-departmental leads, and improve data integrity
- Coordinate product demos, customer outreach, and market-penetration efforts with sales/leasing/rental staff
- Present learned competencies and transition into a permanent Business Development Representative role on program completion
- Travel up to 25% (overnight stays possible) across the client’s multi-state territory when required
Qualifications
Minimum required:
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred (business, marketing, transportation, engineering, or related)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable meeting new people and soliciting new business
- Organized, disciplined, and able to work with minimal supervision
- Valid driver’s license required; Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred or willingness to obtain
- Intermediate computer skills; familiarity with CRM systems and Google Drive preferred
- Reliable attendance and ability to travel up to 25%
Preferred attributes:
- Interest or background in the diesel, trucking, or heavy equipment industries
- Motivation for a sales career and willingness to relocate among client locations if needed
Compensation & Benefits
Estimated pay: $62,124 per year (estimated).

Schedule & Location
- Standard schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Location for this posting: Rockford, IL (role may include assignments at multiple client locations across WI, IL, IN, and MI)
- Travel: up to 25% with overnight stays as needed
