Role Overview
Confidential client is hiring an entry-level Business Development Manager — Retail to support retail sector growth in New York, NY. This role helps research prospects, maintain a healthy pipeline, assist with outreach and proposals, and partner with operations and marketing. You'll work under senior BD leadership and gain hands-on exposure to retail construction, tenant fit-outs, and commercial real estate clients.
What You’ll Do
- Support retail-focused business development initiatives under senior guidance
- Research and identify potential retail clients, developers, brokers, architects, and consultants
- Assist in building and maintaining a pipeline of prospective retail opportunities in CRM
- Support outreach efforts: scheduling, follow-ups, meeting prep and materials
- Help prepare presentations, proposals, interview materials and event collateral
- Track market trends, tenant expansion activity, and competitive developments
- Attend industry events and network alongside senior team members when appropriate
- Coordinate with operations and preconstruction for opportunity qualification
- Partner with marketing on retail-focused collateral and award submissions
- Maintain accurate pipeline records and provide regular activity updates to BD leadership
Who We’re Looking For (Qualifications)
- 2–4 years in business development, sales, client relations, real estate, or related fields; internships considered
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (business, real estate, construction management, marketing or related)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with strong time management and follow-through
- Comfortable collaborating across departments and working with senior leadership
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with CRM systems a plus
- Interest in retail construction, tenant fit-outs, and commercial development
- Self-starter mentality with eagerness to learn and grow in business development
