About the Role
Our confidential client, a growing general contractor and construction manager that delivers complex healthcare, institutional, higher education, telecom, and energy projects, is hiring an entry-level Business Development Associate based in Irvine, CA. This role supports business development activities across the western United States and provides direct exposure to leadership, marketing, estimating, and operations.
What You’ll Do
First 6 to 12 Months
- Research target clients, prospective projects, and market opportunities to support outreach and pursuit strategies.
- Begin building relationships with prospective clients, industry partners, and community organizations.
- Learn the organization’s business development approach through mentorship and collaboration with company leadership.
Project Leadership and Controls
- Coordinate outreach, meetings, and consistent follow-up to advance prospective relationships.
- Maintain accurate CRM records — contacts, activity notes, and next steps.
- Collaborate with leadership, marketing, estimating, and operations on client presentations, proposals, events, and other business development activities.
- Organize competing priorities and ensure consistent follow-through across initiatives.
Field Execution
- Introduce yourself to prospective clients and partners and represent the confidential client professionally.
- Attend industry networking events and community gatherings, including occasional early-morning or evening events.
- Support preparation and coordination of client presentations, proposal materials, and events.
- Follow up with contacts after meetings and events to strengthen relationships and maintain communication.
Qualifications
- 0–5 years experience in business development, sales support, marketing, customer service, hospitality, or other relationship-focused roles.
- Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
- Comfortable initiating conversations, meeting new people, and attending networking events.
- Excellent organization, dependability, attention to detail, and follow-through.
- Ability to research prospective clients, projects, and market opportunities.
- Proven ability to collaborate across departments and manage competing priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with CRM platforms is a plus.
- Interest in commercial construction, real estate, architecture, engineering, or professional services.
- Valid driver’s license and availability to attend occasional early-morning or evening events.
- Professionalism, integrity, initiative, and eagerness to learn.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Construction Management, or related field.
- Hands-on experience or familiarity with CRM platforms and pipeline tracking.
Compensation & Schedule
- Base salary: $70,000–$95,000 per year, plus bonus and industry-leading benefits.
- Employment type: Full-time.
- Schedule: Primarily onsite in Irvine, CA with occasional early-morning or evening networking events.
