What You’ll Do
The Business Data Analyst turns product, customer, and operations data into reliable reporting, decision-ready analysis, and actionable insights. Working with SQL-based data warehouses, dbt models, and modern BI tools, you’ll define and document metrics, investigate performance changes, and build dashboards that drive product and business decisions.
- Build and maintain analytical datasets and reporting models using SQL, dbt, and a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift)
- Create and manage dashboards and metrics in Looker, Tableau, or Power BI; include drill-downs, alerts, and documentation
- Analyze product, customer, and operational data to identify trends, anomalies, drivers of performance, and opportunities for improvement
- Partner with product, operations, finance, and engineering to translate questions into structured analyses and recurring reports with clear recommendations
- Validate data quality across sources and transformations; investigate discrepancies and coordinate fixes with data engineering
- Automate recurring analyses and reporting workflows using Python, SQL, spreadsheets, or BI platform features
- Present findings to technical and non-technical audiences via concise analysis, visualizations, and executive summaries
Qualifications
We’re looking for someone who can move quickly from question to answer while building repeatable, well-documented pipelines and dashboards.
- 1–3 years of experience in business analytics, product analytics, operations analytics, or a related role
- Strong SQL skills: joins, CTEs, window functions, aggregations, and query optimization on large datasets
- Hands-on experience with at least one BI platform (Looker, Tableau, or Power BI) and semantic metric design
- Working knowledge of modern data transformation practices and tools (dbt, version control, data testing, dimensional modeling)
- Experience using Python or a comparable scripting language for analysis, validation, or automation
- Bachelor’s degree in analytics, statistics, economics, computer science, business, or a related quantitative field — or equivalent practical experience
Nice to Have
- Experience with Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift
- Familiarity with product analytics tools (Amplitude, Segment), experimentation analysis, or forecasting
- Prior work in product-led or SaaS environments
