Overview
Confidential Client (Higher Education) is hiring a Business Data Analyst to support operational and strategic decision-making. This role analyzes business data, builds reporting and dashboards, ensures data quality, and delivers actionable recommendations to campus leadership and operational teams. This is a full-time, on-site position in Los Angeles, CA. Annual base salary: $70,000–$72,000.
What You’ll Do
- Perform data analyses and assist in interpretation of results using a variety of techniques to support business practices.
- Work with management to obtain and identify analytical requirements and translate them into reports and dashboards.
- Research best practices, develop benchmarks, and recommend process improvements based on data.
- Design and produce recurring and ad-hoc reports, charts, and graphical data presentations for leadership.
- Validate data, investigate anomalies, and correct inaccuracies to ensure high data quality.
- Maintain and enhance databases, data collection tools, and data entry processes.
- Provide status reports on project plans, progress, and outcomes.
- Provide guidance or supervision to staff and/or student workers as assigned.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver clear, repeatable reporting workflows and dashboards for operational and strategic metrics.
- Use statistical methods and quality management principles to support recommendations and operational changes.
- Develop data collection methods (surveys, tests) and support tools for analysis.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize analyses and translate results into business actions.
- Ensure documentation of data sources, definitions, and reporting procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of experience and education).
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in data analysis or related role.
- Working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, word processing, and statistical software.
- Knowledge of business statistics and data analysis techniques.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with common PC applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years of related experience preferred.
- Degree in statistics, economics, mathematics, accounting, business, computer science, information science, or management information systems preferred.
- Familiarity with quality management methods (e.g., Six Sigma) is a plus.
- Experience producing dashboards and executive-level visualizations.
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual base salary: $70,000–$72,000.
