Role overview
This entry-level Building Planner (Architect) role supports building architectural design work for industrial projects. You will join a multidisciplinary project team and help establish, maintain, and apply design standards, tools, and documentation to support successful project delivery. This position is based in Lenexa, KS.
Estimated pay (posted): $96,218 per year (estimated).
Responsibilities
- Receive opportunities to program and develop conceptual building designs.
- Support building code research and produce code analyses and life‑safety plans; communicate findings to the project team.
- Assist with construction estimating by developing architectural package materials used to obtain costs for proposals.
- Apply and help improve company standards, tools, and processes to keep projects on budget and schedule.
- Coordinate directly with in‑house electrical, HVAC, plumbing and structural engineers for complete building design.
- Learn to write and develop project specifications using specification software.
- Assist with technical bid analysis and evaluate practicality of bid proposals.
- Participate in value engineering reviews and recommend cost-appropriate alternatives.
- Support architectural designers and develop methods to guide architectural deliverables.
- Gain experience with workflows for Engineer‑Procure‑Construct (EPC) and Design‑Build project delivery.
- Support construction administration activities such as submittals, RFIs, and field support.
Qualifications
- NAAB‑accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture.
- 0–2 years of relevant experience (entry level).
- GPA above 3.0 preferred.
- Proficiency with Revit; familiarity with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and critical thinking ability.
- Self‑starter with a strong work ethic and an adaptable, growth mindset.

- Ability to communicate professionally with supervisors, teammates, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Follow safety policies and written/oral instructions.
- Work during normal business hours and be available for overtime or weekend work as project needs require.
