What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring a Building Mechanical Engineer to support building MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) design for industrial and administration building projects. Typical responsibilities include:
- Have a basic understanding of building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
- Become familiar with building codes and standards for the design of building MEP systems
- Under guidance of senior engineers, support system design concepts, equipment sizing and selection, system controls, and final design for industrial buildings and administration buildings (offices, server/computer rooms, warehouses, various industrial building types, and Class I Division 1 & 2 environments)
- Prepare production drawings and specifications for building-related lighting, power, HVAC, and plumbing systems for deliverable packages used in bidding
- Assist with technical bid analysis and review of submittals
- Verify HVAC and plumbing installation/construction compliance with engineering specifications and coordinate shop drawings and equipment submittals during construction administration
- Review and navigate 3D models to check for interferences and constructability during design and construction administration
What We’re Looking For
Minimum qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architectural Engineering (MEP focus) or Mechanical Engineering
- Passed FE exam is a plus; EIT preferred
- 1–3 years of mechanical design experience for buildings, including HVAC and/or plumbing systems and piping
- Experience using Revit and AutoCAD for design
- Familiarity with Trane Trace 700 or Carrier HAP is a plus
- Self-starter who can work collaboratively across engineering disciplines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Maintain safe work practices and follow written and oral instructions and company policies
- Work during normal operating hours; overtime and weekend work as required

This role is based in Lenexa, KS (primary). Opportunities may also exist in other regional offices; the primary location for this posting is Lenexa, KS. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated base pay (source listing): $80,985 per year — actual compensation offered may vary based on experience and location.
