Overview
Confidential Client is hiring a Building Floater (CDA Specialist / Head Start assistant) in Danbury, CT. This part-time, hourly role supports multiple early learning classrooms (infant–pre‑K) by assisting Lead Teachers with routines, curriculum, meals, and supervision. Pay: $16.94–$17.94 per hour.
What You’ll Do
- Support several classrooms (infant, toddler, and/or preschool) under the direction of a Lead Teacher.
- Assist with classroom routines, lesson activities, group time, and individual learning reinforcement.
- Supervise children during meals, snack, outdoor play, transitions, drills, and field trips.
- Help with basic assessments and record keeping under teacher direction.
- Assist with program materials, classroom equipment, and clerical tasks as assigned.
- Provide continuity for substitute teachers and communicate student concerns to staff.
- Participate in required professional development and follow Head Start Performance Standards.
- Perform related duties to support a positive, safe early learning environment.
Who We’re Looking For
- Entry-level to experienced candidates who enjoy working with young children (ages 6 months–5 years).
- Minimum: High School Diploma or GED.
- Child Development Associate (CDA) Certificate required — or candidate must commit to obtaining a CDA within 1 year of hire (CDA paid for by the employer).
- Early Childhood Education credits or an Associate/Bachelor degree in a related field are a plus.
- Basic computer skills (email, data entry, word processing).
- Reliable transportation to program sites; valid driver’s license and minimum auto insurance preferred.
- Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish or English/Portuguese) strongly encouraged.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physical tasks (standing, stooping, reaching).
- Strong judgment, confidentiality, patience, and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and outside agencies.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Mostly indoor, climate-controlled centers with moderate background noise; roughly 70% inside / 30% outside.
- Potential exposure to bodily fluids and routine early-childcare hazards — required adherence to health & safety procedures.
- Must be able to lift and carry children (up to 40 lbs) multiple times per day and perform standing, walking, sitting, and reaching tasks.

Compensation & Benefits
