Responsibilities

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Branch Safety Engineer to support branch operations in Des Moines, IA. You will help create and maintain a strong safety culture by coaching field crews, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with company and client accident-prevention plans.

• Assist with implementing and administering Confidential Client and client accident prevention plans, policies, and procedures
• Provide safety technical expertise, on-site training, and resources for branch staff and crews
• Anticipate, identify, evaluate, and mitigate routine and non-routine safety and health hazards
• Conduct job-site inspections and audits to verify compliance with safety programs and applicable regulations
• Coach and enforce safe work practices through observation, feedback, and continuous engagement
• Investigate and document work-related injuries, illnesses, and near-miss incidents; recommend and follow up on corrective actions
• Prepare and submit timely safety and accident reports, statistics, and documentation required by Confidential Client and clients
• Serve as point of contact with clients for site safety management and goal setting
• Evaluate and approve safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) selections for projects

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Construction Management, or a related discipline — or equivalent experience
• Entry-level construction safety experience or demonstrable safety-related coursework/internships
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
• Ability to read and interpret construction specifications and drawings
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong teamwork, client-facing, and customer-service skills
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills; able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage daily activities on multiple projects
• General knowledge of trade tools, equipment, and construction materials
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety regulations and standards

Preferred Qualifications

• OSHA certification (e.g., 10/30, 30-hour outreach)
• Board of Certified Safety Professionals credentials (CHST, ASP, CSP) — a plus
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Prior training experience or experience delivering safety training to field crews

Compensation & Additional Details

• Salary: $70,000–$92,000 per year plus a non-guaranteed annualized bonus program
• Employment type: Full-time
• This position is safety-sensitive.
• This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
