What You’ll Do

Provide safe, engaging, standards-aligned physical education and athletics instruction for male student groups. Responsibilities include:

  • Plan and deliver lessons that meet Texas Education Agency guidelines and campus goals.
  • Teach physical education fundamentals, sports skills, fitness, and sportsmanship.
  • Develop lesson plans that accommodate individual learning differences and IEP modifications.
  • Use assessment data (formal and informal) to monitor progress and adjust instruction.
  • Manage classroom and on-field behavior using proactive, positive discipline strategies.
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents, coaches, special education staff, and campus leaders.
  • Attend ARD/IEP meetings and participate in campus and district professional development.
  • Supervise extracurricular athletics, practices, games, and related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate records (attendance, grades, progress reports) and contribute to curricular materials.
  • Use available technology to present content and track student performance.

Qualifications

Education & Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for the assigned subject/level (PE/athletics endorsement preferred).

Experience

  • At least one year of student teaching or an approved internship.
  • Coaching or supervisory experience in athletics is a plus.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of physical education curriculum and instructional strategies.
  • Experience working with diverse learners and collaborating with special education staff.
  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage physical demands of supervising and coaching students (standing, walking, lifting).

  • Estimated compensation: $64,711 per year (estimated)
  • Start: 2026–2027 school year (26-27 SY)
  • Supervisory responsibilities: instructional assistants, classroom volunteers, and student teachers as assigned.
