What You’ll Do

This entry-level upstream Biochemist role supports day-to-day upstream bioprocess activities for a confidential client. Responsibilities include:

• Initiate and grow flask cultures and maintain accurate records
• Read flask cell densities on the Vi-Cell and calculate passage volumes
• Set up and operate WAVE bioreactors
• Set up and operate 50L Single-Use Bioreactors (SUBs)
• Sample WAVE bioreactors and SUBs per protocol
• Order and manage feeds and media for flasks and bioreactors
• Prepare and run feeds for bioreactors
• Set up and perform harvests (with or without concentration) and deliver material to purification
• General lab cleanup and maintenance (post-harvest cleanup, disposal tasks, recycling media bottles)
• Inventory management of lab consumables and entry into tracking app
• Follow Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and maintain a clean, safe working environment
• Interface professionally with internal and external stakeholders and clients
• Use Microsoft Office and other standard software tools to document work

Estimated salary: $52,523 per year (as provided/estimated).

What We’re Looking For

Minimum qualifications and skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field (Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or related)
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without sponsorship
• Strong computer, scientific, organizational, and communication skills
• Experience (or coursework) with cell culture techniques and sterile technique preferred
• Comfortable learning new procedures (e.g., WAVE bioreactors, SUBs, Vi-Cell)
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate records, and follow written instructions
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to work independently and in teams
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining focus on quality and safety

Location & Schedule

• On-site role: Uptown, IN
• Schedule: Full-time, first shift — Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. Overtime as required.
