What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Billing & Accounting Analyst in Reston, VA to support billing, reconciliations, and GL accounting tasks. This Billing and Accounting Analyst (Reston, VA) will help create invoices, reconcile costs, and support audits while working across cross-functional teams.

• Create invoices and assemble supporting documentation for fixed-price and reimbursable billings
• Reconcile Book Cost to Billed Cost for contracts
• Research and resolve cost variances; request journal entries as needed
• Gather and apply Statements of Completion of Work (SOCOWs) to monthly billings
• Coordinate with project teams and customers to collect accurate billing information
• Support internal and external audits and help maintain accounting records
• Maintain order-to-cash responsibilities and protect confidential/proprietary data
• Participate in ad-hoc projects and process improvement efforts

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely, accurate invoicing and documentation for collections
• Perform routine GL accounting tasks and month-end reconciliations
• Monitor costs and validate expense accumulation and billing treatment
• Communicate billing status and questions to internal stakeholders and customers
• Follow company policies and comply with audit and regulatory requirements
• Work occasional extended hours and weekends during peak periods or system implementations

Minimum Qualifications

• 0–2 years of GL accounting or related experience (entry-level)
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent combination of education and experience (one year related experience may substitute for one year of education)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel required)
• Strong attention to detail, communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
• US citizenship is required
• Willingness/ability to work weekends, other shifts, mandatory overtime as needed, and to travel occasionally

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with government contract accounting
• Familiarity with IFS, SAP, or similar ERP systems
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, basic macros)

• Salary range: USD $40,000 - $60,000 (base pay; final offer will consider skills, experience, and location)
