Compensation & Schedule

  • Days per year: 187
  • Base salary: $62,750 per year
  • Employment type: Full time, Contract
  • Wage/hour status: Exempt
  • Pay grade: Teacher Salary Scale

Qualifications

  • Required:
    • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university
    • Valid Texas teaching certificate for the assigned grade level(s)
  • Preferred:
    • One year of student teaching or an approved internship in an early childhood setting

Skills & Competencies

    • Strong organizational skills
    • Effective classroom management and positive-discipline techniques
    • Ability to plan and deliver developmentally appropriate Pre‑K lessons
    • Clear communication and strong interpersonal skills for working with families and staff
    • Knowledge of early childhood curriculum and assessment practices
    • Bilingual language skills (as required for bilingual instruction)

Key Responsibilities

    • Teach assigned Pre‑K classes in accordance with district goals, policies, and procedures
    • Develop and deliver lesson plans with immediate and long-range objectives
    • Use a variety of instructional materials and activities to engage learners
    • Maintain accurate student records (attendance, evaluations, contacts, materials)
    • Create and maintain an efficient, welcoming classroom environment
    • Supervise students for safety during class time and school-related activities
    • Communicate proactively with parents and guardians about student progress and needs
    • Collaborate with colleagues, librarians, counselors, and administrators to support student learning
    • Participate in professional development and remain current in instructional best practices
    • Perform other duties as assigned to support school and district objectives

Working Conditions

  • Maintain emotional control under stress; frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling
  • May move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom materials
  • Work is performed in a school environment and includes regular interaction with children, parents, and staff
