Position Overview

Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is hiring a Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst in New Haven, CT. This full-time, entry-level role is ideal for candidates with strong analytical skills, SQL knowledge, and experience or coursework with Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI tools. The BI Analyst will build reports and dashboards, validate data quality, and present insights that inform business decisions.

What You’ll Do

• Collect, analyze, and interpret data from multiple business sources to answer operational questions.
• Design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
• Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyze data.
• Create and maintain KPIs, metrics, and operational performance reports.
• Validate data accuracy and perform data quality checks and reconciliations.
• Assist with data modeling, transformation, and report automation.
• Collaborate with Data Analysts, Data Engineers, and business stakeholders to define reporting requirements.
• Document reporting logic, data sources, and business requirements.
• Present findings and insights to technical and non-technical audiences.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in SQL.
• Experience or academic knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, or another BI tool.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Basic understanding of data modeling and relational databases.
• Knowledge of KPIs, dashboards, and data visualization best practices.
• Good written and verbal communication; comfortable working with stakeholders.
• Ability to analyze moderately large datasets and identify meaningful insights.

Preferred (Nice-to-Have)

• Knowledge of Power BI DAX and Power Query.
• Familiarity with Python or R for data analysis.
• Basic understanding of ETL/ELT processes.
• Experience with cloud analytics platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Familiarity with SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, or Redshift.
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum and tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
• Internship, academic projects, or prior experience in Data Analytics or Business Intelligence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent coursework/projects).
• 0–2 years of relevant experience. Entry-level candidates with internships, certifications, or academic projects are encouraged to apply.

Working Environment & Location

• Onsite in New Haven, CT. Occasional collaboration with cross-functional teams is expected.
