What You’ll Do
The Benefits Verification Specialist verifies insurance benefits and eligibility for prospective and current patients to support timely access to behavioral health services. This is an entry-level, remote role (must reside in Colorado) that works closely with admissions, utilization review, and clinical teams.
- Verify insurance eligibility and behavioral health benefits with commercial and government payors.
- Document coverage details including deductibles, copays, coinsurance, limits and authorization requirements.
- Communicate benefit information clearly to admissions staff, clinicians, and patients.
- Maintain accurate records in the electronic health record (EHR) or admissions system.
- Identify coverage limitations and escalate complex issues to leadership.
- Follow internal workflows, payor-specific guidelines, and HIPAA requirements.
- Assist with intake- and insurance-related administrative tasks and participate in ongoing training.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Entry-level role; prior healthcare, insurance, or revenue cycle experience is a plus but not required.
- Must reside in Colorado (remote role).
Skills & Abilities
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Professional, empathetic verbal and written communication.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Comfortable using computers and learning new systems (EHRs, admission platforms).
- Willingness to learn payor rules and accept feedback.
- Basic knowledge of insurance terminology preferred.

Compensation & Benefits
- Pay: $20–$24 per hour.
- Employment type: Full-time, hourly, non-exempt.
