Behavioral Health Technician

Position Overview
Confidential Client is seeking a compassionate, entry-level Behavioral Health Technician to provide direct care and support to individuals receiving treatment for eating disorders. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to maintain a safe, therapeutic environment and support clients’ recovery through daily activities, mealtime support, therapeutic groups, and accurate clinical documentation.
Schedule & Compensation
- Part-Time (0.6 FTE): 24 hrs/week — (3) 8-hour shifts per week
- Full-Time (0.8 FTE): 32 hrs/week — (4) 8-hour shifts per week
- Available shifts include mid-shifts (3:00pm – 11:00pm)
- Schedule includes weekends and some holidays
- Compensation: Behavioral Health Technician I: $18.00 - $21.00 hourly (final compensation based on qualifications/experience)
What You’ll Do
- Provide compassionate direct care and supervision to clients receiving treatment for eating disorders.
- Monitor and assist during mealtimes and snacks; model normalized eating behavior as a therapeutic intervention.
- Support activities of daily living (dressing, hygiene) and encourage adaptive behaviors.
- Facilitate and participate in therapeutic activity groups (art, music, journaling, mindfulness, relaxation, games).
- Observe, document, and report client behaviors, physical health, and any incidents in compliance with facility and regulatory standards.
- Respond to crises and employ de-escalation techniques to ensure client and staff safety.
- Work collaboratively with therapists, dietitians, nurses, psychiatrists, and other team members.
- Provide transportation to appointments as needed (for residential/inpatient roles).
- Maintain strict confidentiality of protected health information and proprietary company information.
- Complete mandatory training and participate in scheduled supervision.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree with 2 years of healthcare experience preferred; bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, behavioral health, or related field is a plus.
- This is an entry-level role; 6+ months of direct client care or milieu experience in mental/behavioral health or related healthcare settings preferred (experience with eating disorders a plus).
- Strong communication, observation, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work scheduled shifts including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
Certifications & Other Requirements
- Employees at residential or inpatient sites must have a valid driver’s license and authorization to drive.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire for residential/inpatient roles.
- First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire for residential/inpatient roles.
- CPI (or equivalent) certification required within 30 days of hire for residential/inpatient roles in North Carolina or Georgia (where applicable).
