Core Responsibilities

Confidential Client is seeking a hands-on Battery Technician to support cell development. This lab-forward role focuses on precise, repeatable fabrication and electrochemical testing to advance next-generation battery chemistries.

• Fabricate developmental electrodes: prepare slurries, coat electrodes (drawdown and slot-die), calender to target density, cut, weigh, and inspect to meet dimensional and mass-loading specifications.
• Assemble coin cells, pouch cells, and small-format cylindrical cells in dry-room and glovebox environments; safely prepare and handle liquid electrolytes.
• Set up, run, and monitor electrochemical test programs on battery cyclers (Arbin, Maccor, BioLogic, or similar).
• Maintain laboratory equipment, consumable inventory, and clean, organized lab spaces.
• Maintain accurate lab notebooks and electronic records; follow chemical hygiene, PPE, and safety protocols.

Qualifications & Experience

• 1–3 years hands-on experience in a battery, electrochemistry, or materials laboratory (relevant internships considered).
• Demonstrated proficiency in electrode coating, calendering, and small-format cell assembly (coin, pouch, or cylindrical).
• Familiarity with battery cyclers and basic test setup/monitoring.
• Comfortable working in gloveboxes and dry-room environments with air-sensitive materials.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to data integrity.
• Ability to follow detailed written procedures and contribute to procedure development.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety practices including chemical handling, PPE, and emergency procedures.
• Education: Bachelor’s in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field preferred. Associate degree or technical training plus relevant lab experience will be considered.

Additional Details

• This role requires sustained work with chemicals, solvents, and battery materials—proper PPE and safety procedures are required at all times.
• Some weekend or extended-hour work may be necessary to support ongoing test programs.

Location & Compensation

• Location: San Leandro, CA — onsite required.
• Compensation: $30–$35 per hour (hourly range posted in accordance with California pay transparency requirements).
• Employment type: Full-time; contractor status may apply per client posting.
