What You’ll Do

This entry-level Backup Administrator will help implement and maintain enterprise backup and recovery infrastructure under the guidance of senior engineers. You will configure, test, and support backup hardware, software, and database backup solutions; run validation tests; and assist with migrations, change control, and regulatory audit activities.

• Implement backup and recovery hardware and software configurations for production and development environments
• Configure and maintain database backup and recovery solutions in coordination with DBAs
• Execute and document backup/recovery tests; analyze test results and update configurations
• Assist in designing backup solutions to meet RTO and RPO requirements
• Support platform integrations with server, storage, directory services, networking, and security teams
• Troubleshoot backup failures and operational inefficiencies; document remediation steps
• Assist with migration, conversion, and upgrade tasks for backup appliances and storage
• Maintain familiarity with FedRAMP, FISMA, HIPAA, IRS, NIST and PCI guidelines and support audit remediation activities

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; OR Associate’s degree + 2 years IT experience; OR 4 years IT work experience
• Basic understanding of backup and recovery concepts, networking protocols for data protection, and peripheral technologies
• Familiarity with regulatory and security standards (FedRAMP, FISMA, HIPAA, NIST, PCI, CIS, CJIS) and applying access controls per OS/project build standards
• Ability to follow documented procedures, run test plans, analyze results, and clearly communicate findings
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams

Compensation & Schedule

• Pay: $25.00 per hour (W2)
• Employment type: Full-time (40 hours/week), W2 1-year contract with opportunity for permanent hire
• Work location: Dimondale, MI — hybrid schedule (approximately 2 days onsite, 3 days remote)
• Anticipated start date: November 16, 2026
