What You’ll Do

Confidential Client’s Creation Platform team builds the backend platform that powers content creation workflows at scale. As a Backend Software Engineer on this team you will design, build, and evolve large-scale distributed backend services that support multimedia ingestion, processing, storage, and delivery for creators and internal tools.

• Design and implement backend features that serve global users with high availability and low latency
• Build and evolve distributed services and microservice architectures to support multimedia pipelines
• Collaborate with product, frontend, SRE, and multimedia-engineering teams to define API contracts and operational requirements
• Optimize data storage, caching, and messaging patterns for throughput and cost efficiency
• Diagnose production issues, lead root-cause analysis, and deliver reliable fixes and prevention plans
• Contribute to architecture decisions, design reviews, and technical roadmaps

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
• Proficient in at least one systems language (Golang, Java, C++, or Python)
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design
• Hands-on experience with backend stacks such as databases, caches, and message queues
• Experienced designing or operating distributed services at scale
• Strong analytical, debugging, and communication skills
• Self-motivated with a growth mindset and ability to work in cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building large-scale backend services for consumer-facing applications
• Familiarity with multimedia technologies (video codecs, media containers) or media pipelines
• Experience with performance tuning, observability tooling, and service reliability practices
• Knowledge of cloud-native patterns, container orchestration, and distributed storage systems

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary range (San Jose, CA): $122,574 - $316,800 annually. Compensation may vary depending on experience, location, and other factors. This role may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses and equity awards.
• Benefits typically include medical, dental, and vision coverage (day-one access), 401(k) with match, paid holidays, sick time, paid time off, parental leave, disability and life insurance, and wellbeing programs. Specific benefits depend on employment status and work location and are subject to change.
