Role overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Backend Software Engineer to design and build scalable backend systems and data-processing pipelines that transform large volumes of audio data into high-quality training datasets. You will work closely with researchers and operations to iterate quickly on data collection and processing, shipping production-grade services used by thousands of users.

What You’ll Do

• Design and implement scalable backend systems and core data processing pipelines that handle terabytes of audio data daily.
• Architect and maintain APIs and services that support features used by thousands of users.
• Build, deploy, and evaluate LLM- and DSP-based solutions to extract nuanced signals from datasets.
• Rapidly prototype and iterate with research and operations teams to support new data-collection workflows.
• Ensure reliability, observability, and performance of production systems.
• Stay current with backend, data engineering, ML, and signal-processing technologies and apply them where appropriate.

What We’re Looking For

• 2+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Strong fundamentals designing scalable systems, APIs, and data pipelines that operate at significant scale and volume.
• A proven track record of delivering engineering solutions that added measurable value to customers.
• Comfortable working in a high-pace environment and delivering with detail-oriented execution.
• Emphasis on building robust, production-grade infrastructure.
• AI/ML or audio experience is a plus but not required — enthusiasm to learn is essential.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent experience).

• Experience or training in digital signal processing and speech/audio.
• Experience deploying ML models to production.
• Prior experience leading or tech-leading engineering teams in high-growth environments.

• Compensation Range: $165K - $225K (USD, annual)
