What You’ll Do

• Develop scalable, production-ready backend applications and services for enterprise systems.
• Design and build RESTful APIs and backend services using modern software engineering practices.
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases to model, query, and maintain data.
• Apply object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and engineering principles to solve technical problems.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code; conduct unit and integration testing, debugging, and performance tuning.
• Participate in code reviews and uphold software development best practices and documentation standards.
• Support CI/CD pipelines, production deployment, monitoring/observability, and security hardening for backend services.
• Collaborate within Agile/Scrum teams across design, implementation, testing, deployment, and optimization phases.
• Transition existing programming experience to Java-based enterprise backend development.

Generative AI & LLM Integration

• Develop AI-powered features and backend applications using modern Generative AI approaches.
• Implement RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) pipelines and LLM-powered workflows.
• Integrate AI models and services into backend APIs and production systems.
• Work with frameworks such as Spring AI and LangChain4j.
• Build and query vector databases; apply embeddings, chunking, retrieval optimization, and re-ranking techniques.
• Stay current with emerging Generative AI, LLM, and agentic AI technologies and operationalize them responsibly.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Hands-on backend development experience and familiarity with enterprise Java development.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and working with SQL and NoSQL data stores.
• Solid fundamentals in object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and system design.
• Familiarity with testing practices, CI/CD, and production support processes.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

• Experience with Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring Data) and Java enterprise patterns.
• Familiarity with Spring AI, LangChain4j or similar LLM integration frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with vector databases, embeddings, retrieval pipelines, and RAG architectures.
• Knowledge of retrieval optimization, chunking strategies, and re-ranking approaches.
• Interest in applied research and productionizing LLM-enabled features.

Employment Details & Compensation

• Employment type: Full-time
• Location: New York, NY, United States (on-site or as defined by the confidential client)
• Salary range: $65,000 - $80,000 per year (range provided by the confidential client)
