What You’ll Do

The Trust & Safety data engineering group builds scalable data platforms and services that protect users and keep content safe. As a Backend Software Engineer Graduate on this track, you will:

  • Participate in the architecture and implementation of large-scale data application platforms supporting trust & safety workflows.
  • Design and improve backend services and system architecture to increase stability, throughput, and efficiency in distributed, high-concurrency environments.
  • Build and maintain pipelines and systems for data integration, offline and real-time processing, data governance, and BI-enabled analytics.
  • Work with big-data tools and frameworks to enable insight-driven product and moderation decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into robust technical solutions and operational practices.
  • Coach teammates, share technical best practices, and contribute to building a reliable, maintainable platform.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (completed or soon-to-be-completed) in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Hands-on software development experience in at least one of: C++, Python, or Java.
  • Familiarity with backend server technologies used in high-concurrency/distributed systems (RPC, message queues, service governance, tracing).
  • Experience or coursework with big-data systems and technologies such as Spark, Flink, ClickHouse, HBase, or similar.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in teams.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience or interest in data insight techniques (machine learning basics, statistical analysis).
  • Previous internships or projects building production-grade backend systems or data platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership, drive technical decisions, and mentor others.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range for San Jose, CA: $128,000 - $256,000 annually.
  • Compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and location. Total rewards may include discretionary bonuses and equity (restricted stock units) where applicable.
  • Benefits (may vary by location): day-one access to medical, dental, and vision; 401(k) with company match; paid parental leave; short- and long-term disability; life insurance; wellbeing programs; 10 paid holidays, 10 sick days, and paid personal time with accrual by tenure.

Location, Timing & Hiring Notes

  • Role location: San Jose, CA (on-site / local team).

  • This position is part of a general-hire track for the Trust & Safety organization: you may be evaluated across multiple teams and matched to the best fit based on your background and interviews.
