Summary

Confidential Client is hiring a Backend Software Engineer to support AI training projects. You will build and maintain backend systems, data pipelines, and services that support ML model training and dataset preparation. This role is based in Boardman, OR.

What You’ll Do

• Design, implement, and maintain backend services and APIs that support AI training workflows
• Build and operate scalable data pipelines for ingesting, validating, and preparing training data
• Collaborate with ML engineers and data labeling teams to integrate tooling and improve dataset quality
• Optimize services for performance, reliability, and cost in a cloud environment
• Write tests, maintain documentation, and participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality delivery
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve observability across backend systems

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience as a backend software engineer or similar role
• Strong programming skills in one or more backend languages (e.g., Python, Java, or Node.js)
• Experience building and maintaining APIs and services
• Familiarity with data processing concepts and building data pipelines
• Solid understanding of source control (git) and collaborative engineering practices
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams

Preferred (Nice-to-Have)

• Experience working on ML or AI model training pipelines or dataset engineering
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with CI/CD, monitoring, and production observability tooling
• Background working with data labeling workflows or ML infrastructure
