What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to help design, build, and maintain backend systems that power customer-facing products. You will work on scalable services, APIs, and data-intensive features in a collaborative engineering team.

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using .NET Core and C#
• Build and optimize RESTful APIs for internal and external integrations
• Write efficient MySQL queries and help tune data operations for performance and integrity
• Implement message-based integrations using Kafka and/or RabbitMQ
• Participate in architecture and design reviews; propose improvements for reliability and scalability
• Write unit and integration tests, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement long-term fixes
• Collaborate with product, frontend, and DevOps teams to deliver features end-to-end

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience (required)
• Experience developing backend applications with .NET Core and C#
• Familiarity with building and consuming RESTful APIs
• Practical experience writing SQL queries in MySQL or similar relational databases
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to code quality and testing
• Local candidates in or near Austin, TX who can attend in-person interviews

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with message brokers such as Kafka and RabbitMQ
• Knowledge of distributed systems concepts and performance tuning
• Experience with source control (Git), CI/CD tools, and automated testing frameworks
• Comfortable working in an agile environment and participating in sprint planning and code reviews

Location & Interview

This role is based in Austin, TX. The client requests local candidates or those who can travel to Austin for in-person interviews. Employment is with Confidential Client; candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
