Position overview
Confidential Client is hiring an Aviation Consultant to support airport planning and advisory projects. This is an entry-level to early-career role (0–3 years) focused on airport planning research, data collection, analysis, and supporting preparation of planning deliverables. The role is based in Chicago, IL, with potential flexibility for remote work on a project-by-project basis.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct field surveys, investigations, and collect quantitative and qualitative data in support of airport planning studies.
- Compile, interpret, and help present research data for master planning, operational analysis, and environmental reviews.
- Draft sections of reports, memos, charts, tables, maps, and presentation materials.
- Assist in development, formatting, publication, and distribution of planning deliverables.
- Maintain and troubleshoot electronic datasets, spreadsheets, and project files.
- Respond to internal and external requests for data and technical information.
- Provide technical assistance and written recommendations under supervision.
- Perform related planning tasks as needed across multi-disciplinary project teams.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Planning, Aviation Management, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- 0–3 years of relevant experience in airport planning, transportation planning, engineering, or a related area.
- Familiarity with the aviation industry or a strong desire to learn and grow in aviation planning and consulting.
- Awareness of FAA Advisory Circulars, Engineering Briefs, and industry planning/design guidance.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Technical Skills
- Master’s degree in engineering, planning, aviation management, business, or a related discipline (preferred).
- Working knowledge of airport strategic planning, infrastructure/facilities planning, and operational research methods.
- Experience with spatial/graphical and modelling tools: AutoCAD, Revit, GIS, 3ds Max, SketchUp, VISSIM, AviPlan, or similar.
- Familiarity with statistical and database analysis techniques.
Soft Skills
- Self-motivated and proactive — able to identify creative, technically sound solutions and work independently.
- Detail-oriented, especially in analytic and technical writing; able to translate technical information for nontechnical audiences.
- Effective communicator and collaborator across in-person and remote teams.
- Highly organized; able to manage multiple assignments and priorities simultaneously.

Compensation & Location
- Base salary range: $62,000 to $88,000 per year. The final offer will depend on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education, and skills.
- Location: Chicago, IL (position may include work on-site in Chicago and/or remote/project-based work).
