Confidential Client is hiring an Autonomy Software Engineer to join an engineering team building production-grade autonomous systems. This is an entry-level, full-time engineering opportunity based in Los Angeles, CA. Careertakes is acting as a third-party recruiter for this role.
What You’ll Do
As an Autonomy Software Engineer you will contribute to the software that enables perception, planning, and control for autonomous systems. Typical responsibilities include:
- Implement and test autonomy algorithms in simulation and on hardware
- Integrate sensing, state estimation, and control modules into a cohesive software stack
- Write clean, maintainable code and unit/integration tests
- Work with cross-functional teams (perception, controls, hardware) to iterate on system designs
- Support data collection, labeling efforts, and reproduce/diagnose failures
- Participate in code reviews and continuous-improvement of development processes
What We’re Looking For
We seek motivated engineers who can learn quickly and contribute to autonomy software development. Core qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Programming proficiency in at least one compiled or high-level language (e.g., C++, Python)
- Strong fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and software engineering best practices
- Comfortable working with simulation tools and debugging on real systems
- Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering domains
- Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship at time of hire
Nice-to-Have
These are advantages but not strict requirements:
- Experience with autonomy stacks, robotics middleware, or simulation frameworks
- Knowledge of perception, state estimation, planning, or controls concepts
- Exposure to continuous integration, testing frameworks, and version control workflows
- Prior internships or projects involving embedded systems or robotics
