What You’ll Do

This role supports the parts department at a dealership-level operation. You will help maintain accurate inventory, support parts ordering and returns, and keep the parts area organized to help technicians and service advisors get parts quickly and correctly.

  • Meet measurable parts-department performance guidelines (inventory days’ supply, service level, true turn, lost sales tracking, etc.).
  • Organize and maintain the parts area for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Assign and record logical locations for parts in the inventory system.
  • Manage aging special-order bins and minimize obsolescence.
  • Implement theft-prevention practices for the department.
  • Assist with annual physical inventory and maintain perpetual bin control.
  • Process obsolete parts returns per supplier rules and timelines.
  • Develop and follow stock ordering and emergency-order systems.
  • Track and report emergency-order dollar volume and associated obsolescence.
  • Maintain special-order workflow and proper accounting information flow.
  • Receive, ship, log, track and control parts and related documentation daily.
  • Source and analyze parts-management and inventory reports; reconcile discrepancies by month-end.
  • Support accounting with claims, credits, receivables, and inventory reconciliation.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and attend management meetings as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned to support parts operations.

Qualifications

To be successful in this position you’ll bring a combination of attention to detail, basic inventory skills, and a willingness to learn dealership parts processes.

  • High school diploma or GED preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.
  • Previous inventory, retail parts, warehouse, or automotive experience is a plus — entry-level candidates encouraged to apply.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Basic computer skills; comfortable entering and tracking part numbers and locations.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to follow established procedures.
  • Good communication skills for coordination with service, parts suppliers, and accounting.
  • Ability to lift and move parts safely and work on your feet for extended periods.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Typical dealership parts-department environment: parts room, counter, shipping/receiving zones, occasional shop-floor exposure.
  • Job requires standing, walking, lifting (weight varies), bending, and repetitive tasks. Reasonable accommodations will be made as needed.
