Role Overview
Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is hiring an entry-level Automation Engineer to support manufacturing automation systems at a production site in Reparto Daguey, Puerto Rico. This hands-on role works closely with experienced engineers, operations, quality, IT, and vendors to troubleshoot equipment, support automation projects, and document technical work to meet quality and safety requirements.
Estimated base pay: $77,333 per year (estimated).
What You’ll Do
You will join a cross-functional engineering team and support the operation, maintenance, and improvement of automated manufacturing systems.
- Support maintenance and continuous improvement of automated manufacturing equipment
- Assist troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, sensors, industrial communications, and equipment faults
- Help develop, modify, and test basic PLC and HMI logic under mentorship
- Prepare clear technical documentation, test records, and communication of findings
- Support automation projects, equipment upgrades, testing, and startup activities
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and vendor coordination as assigned
- Follow safety, quality, change-control, and data-integrity procedures
- Provide production support, including occasional off-hours support when required
Who You Are (Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Automation, Robotics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field
- 0–2 years of relevant experience; recent graduates encouraged to apply
- Internship, co-op, academic project, lab, or hands-on technical experience is welcomed
- Basic academic exposure or knowledge in one or more of:
- PLC or industrial control systems
- HMI or SCADA applications
- Industrial equipment, sensors, instrumentation, or robotics
- Technical troubleshooting and documentation
- Willingness to learn, ask questions, and follow site standards and regulated-system practices
- Strong problem-solving, organization, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment and follow established procedures
Preferred (not required):
- Exposure to Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff, Ignition, Wonderware, FactoryTalk, or similar platforms
- Experience or exposure to GMP, validation, data integrity, or regulated environments
- Familiarity with industrial networking, data collection, or reporting systems
