The Opportunity

This is an entry-level claims role designed to train you to become an independent claims handler for auto and related damage claims. Over a typical 9–12 month structured program, you will receive classroom, virtual, and on-the-job training to develop technical claim-handling skills, strong customer service capabilities, and knowledge of insurance policy interpretation. This position emphasizes frequent customer contact via phone and written communication and prepares you to progress to full claims handling responsibility.


What You’ll Do

  • Actively participate in structured training (virtual, classroom, on-the-job) covering policies, claim processes, systems, and procedures.
  • Assess policy coverage to determine compensability.
  • Investigate claims by gathering facts from policyholders, claimants, and witnesses.
  • Partner with internal and external resources to obtain additional evidence; assess claims for potential fraud.
  • Establish appropriate reserves, determine resolution amounts, and issue accurate claim payments.
  • Develop and execute action plans for effective, timely claim resolution.
  • Communicate claim status to all parties, including business customers, in a clear and professional manner.
  • Maintain accurate, auditable records in claims management systems.
  • Demonstrate openness to continuous learning, including AI and digital tools; adapt to new workflows and system upgrades.
  • Acquire and maintain required insurance license(s) as mandated by state law and client policy within three months of hire.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Who We’re Looking For (Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; previous internship or work experience in customer service or insurance is a plus.
  • High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of customer service experience (minimum requirement).
  • Willingness to obtain an active adjuster license where required by state law.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and willingness to learn claims management systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; clear, professional demeanor with customers and colleagues.
  • Sound judgment and ability to make effective decisions within established authority.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation and commitment to a positive claimant/insured experience.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage priorities across multiple tasks.
  • Basic conflict resolution skills and a willingness to learn negotiation techniques.
  • Openness to continuous learning and technology adoption.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range (national market range): $45,400 – $74,900 per year. Actual pay will depend on role scope, location, skills, experience, and other conditions of employment.
  • Employees are eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards where applicable.
  • Health insurance available from day one for employees and eligible dependents.
  • Retirement: 401(k) match up to 5% and an employer-funded pension plan where applicable; student loan repayment program contributions possible.
  • Paid time off: minimum of 20 days annually, plus nine paid company holidays.
