Position Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an Auto Body Instructor to deliver hands‑on and classroom instruction at the Maryland Correctional Training Center (MCTC) in Hagerstown, MD. This full-time, permanent role pays $68,485 – $76,306 per year and focuses on preparing students for entry‑level employment and pre-apprenticeship pathways in auto body and related technical trades.

What You’ll Do

Confidential Client expects the instructor to create a safe, engaging learning environment and deliver technical instruction that leads to measurable student progress.

• Develop and deliver hands-on and classroom lessons in auto body repair and related technical skills (including relevant electrical wiring fundamentals as applicable to the curriculum).
• Prepare students for entry-level employment and for introductory pre-apprenticeship training.
• Design assessments, track student progress, and maintain accurate training records.
• Demonstrate and enforce shop safety, tool/equipment use, and best practices.
• Adapt instruction to varied learning levels and manage classroom/shop behavior in a corrections training setting.
• Coordinate with site leadership and certifying bodies to support student certification and credentialing.

Qualifications

Minimum required

• Possession of appropriate educational credentials as determined by the Maryland State Board of Education.
• Ability to meet Maryland teacher certification requirements for state‑operated school programs (see Licenses & Certifications).

Preferred

• Three (3) years of experience working in the auto body repair field.
• Current Trades and Industry Certification with MSDE directly related to Automobile Mechanics or Auto Body repair.
• Experience developing hands-on vocational curricula and conducting skills assessments.

Licenses, Registrations & Certifications

Teachers in state‑operated school programs must acquire and maintain certification to teach in the State of Maryland per Education Article, Section 6‑101 and COMAR 13A.12.01.03B(2). Applicants recommended for hire will be required to complete authorization and verification of credentials. Information on certification requirements may be obtained from the Maryland State Board of Education.

• All candidates are subject to background checks.
• Candidates will be screened against Division of Unemployment Insurance records to determine whether any unemployment overpayment debt exists; unresolved debt may affect employment eligibility.
