Role Overview
Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is seeking internal auditors to join their Audit Services team in Baton Rouge, LA. This posting may be filled at the Auditor 1, 2, or 3 level depending on experience and qualifications. Candidates will support or lead internal audits, perform risk assessments, evaluate internal controls, and use data analytics to support audit conclusions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform risk assessments and develop audit plans.
- Plan, lead, and execute audit engagements (may include IT and investments).
- Evaluate the design and effectiveness of internal controls.
- Use data analytics tools to test populations, identify exceptions, and spot trends.
- Prepare clear, well-documented workpapers supporting conclusions.
- Draft audit reports that communicate findings and recommendations to management.
- Manage time and resources to meet deadlines across multiple projects.
- Pursue relevant professional certifications as appropriate (e.g., CPA, CIA, CISA).
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet at least one of the following:
- Three years of experience in accounting or auditing; OR
- Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus 24 semester hours in accounting, auditing, business, finance, management, economics, quantitative methods, or information systems; OR
- A bachelor’s degree plus 24 semester hours in the fields listed above; OR
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, auditing, finance, business administration, management, economics, information systems, quantitative methods, or statistics; OR
- A bachelor’s degree plus a CISA or CGAP; OR
- An advanced degree in the fields listed above; OR
- A CPA license, CFE, or CIA designation.
Experience substitution: every 30 semester hours from an accredited college/university = 1 year of experience (max substitution = 120 semester hours, up to 4 years).
Preferred / Helpful Skills
- Experience with internal audit methodologies and risk-based auditing.
- Comfort using data analytics and audit testing tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present findings to all levels of management.
- Detail-oriented, analytical thinker, and self-starter.
- Commitment to professional development and certifications.
Position Details
- Employment type: Full-time, Permanent.
- Appointment type: Probational (new hires required to serve a minimum of 18 months up to 24 months in probational status).
- Career progression: May be filled as Auditor 1, 2, or 3 based on qualifications.
- Work schedule: 8 hours Monday–Friday; choose a start time between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation varies by level and qualifications. Approximate annual ranges:
- Auditor 1: entry $44,990.40 — maximum $78,790.00
- Auditor 2: entry $48,131.20 — maximum $84,302.00
- Auditor 3: entry $55,120.00 — maximum $96,533.00
