Position Overview

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Audit Associate to support governmental audit engagements. This in-office role is based in Phoenix, AZ (must reside in Arizona). You’ll work on audits of public-sector clients, learn auditing standards and financial reporting, and be mentored by experienced CPAs. This position operates on Mountain Standard Time (MST) and requires significant travel during Q1.


What You’ll Do

  • Assist in performing audits of governmental clients following Government Auditing Standards.
  • Learn and apply current accounting principles and auditing techniques.
  • Help prepare financial statements, footnote disclosures, and management letters.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Communicate progress and findings clearly with team members and supervisors.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive information responsibly.
  • Participate in professional development and training (Becker, LinkedIn Learning, etc.).
  • Travel to client sites as required (significant travel expected during Q1).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
  • 0–2 years of accounting or audit experience (internships or part-time experience welcome).
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communicator; team player with a positive attitude.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel proficiency preferred).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Interest in pursuing a CPA license in the future.
  • Ability and willingness to travel significantly during Q1.
  • Must reside in Arizona (candidates in Phoenix, Tucson, Mesa, Chandler, Scottsdale, Glendale, Gilbert, and Tempe are strongly preferred).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive starting salary range: $65,000 – $70,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
