What You’ll Do
Confidential Client’s State and Local Government (SLG) assurance team is hiring an Audit Associate to perform core audit and assurance tasks for government clients across the Southern California region. This role balances technical execution with client communication and provides clear progression toward more complex engagements.
- Perform detailed audit procedures, reviews and limited compilations for government clients.
- Support multiple engagements of varying size and complexity, delivering work on time and within budget.
- Prepare portions of financial statements and related reports with accuracy and consistency.
- Audit complex transactions and account areas; begin leading small audits as experience grows.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with clients to gather information and close engagements.
- Collaborate with managers and principals to ensure quality delivery and effective client service.
- Build and maintain client relationships while learning sector-specific regulations and standards.
What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of relevant professional services experience (completed internships may qualify).
- General knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Familiarity with government/SLG audit practices is a plus.
- CPA or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam is preferred.
- Experience or familiarity with internal tools such as Pfx (Fixed Assets / Engagement), CCH, XCM, or similar systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Compensation & Work Type
- Employment type: Contract / Full-time (as listed).
- Compensation range for this role in California: $65,000 - $110,000 per year. This range reflects geographic and experience-based pay variation; final pay is determined by experience, skill set, and other lawful factors.
