What You’ll Do
As a Financial Statement Audit Associate you will support assurance engagements and help validate financial information that informs client decision-making. This entry-level role emphasizes learning, applying auditing fundamentals, and contributing to team-delivered results.
- Review and verify financial statements, account balances, and supporting documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Apply auditing methodologies, GAAS, and GAAP to support external audit procedures and testing activities.
- Analyze financial data, trends, and account fluctuations to identify unusual items and follow up on open questions.
- Document audit steps, findings, and supporting evidence in organized workpapers.
- Evaluate internal controls and accounting policies to help identify risk areas and control gaps.
- Prepare reconciliations, data summaries, and schedule support using spreadsheets and digital audit tools.
- Coordinate with team members to complete assigned testing, research requests, and issue tracking tasks.
- Use intellectual curiosity and active listening to gather information, clarify requests, and adapt to changing engagement needs.
Qualifications
What you must have:
- Bachelor’s degree completed or in final academic year in Accounting (or equivalent).
- Minimum overall GPA: 3.0.
- Before starting full-time, meet the educational requirements to be eligible to sit for the CPA exam in your intended state of employment.
- Ability to work full-time in Houston, TX (on-site or as required by the engagement).
We welcome early-career candidates: client-service associate roles are entry-level and suitable for those finishing their final academic year or recent graduates.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
What sets you apart:
- Preferred overall GPA: 3.5 or higher.
- Coursework or hands-on experience applying GAAP and GAAS.
- Comfort using data analysis to review and verify financial documents.
- Experience participating in team-based academic projects or internships.
- Demonstrated curiosity and ability to learn audit methodologies quickly.
- Interest in leveraging AI and automation to create efficiencies and improve audit quality.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $53,500 - $104,000 per year. Actual pay within the range will depend on skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable employment laws.
- Eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
- Benefits typically include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid holidays, paid vacation, and personal/family sick leave. Specific benefit offerings are determined by the hiring organization.
