What You’ll Do

This role works on a production engineering team that develops, integrates, tests, and deploys training systems and simulation software. You’ll perform hands-on engineering tasks under the direction of lead engineers and support the Training System Support Center (TSSC) through software design, implementation, testing, and deployment.

• Perform engineering tasks in a production environment to support development, integration, and deployment of training systems and associated software.
• Assist in network design, system configuration, and interfacing platform simulation applications.
• Write, modify, and implement software applications for training system components.
• Install, configure, and support software applications and operating systems used in simulation environments.
• Participate in requirements review, design, coding, integration, testing, and deployment activities.
• Diagnose product-level software and system issues; support corrective actions and troubleshooting.
• Communicate project status, technical issues, risks, and recommended solutions to lead engineers and stakeholders.
• Create and maintain accurate technical documentation (design notes, installation guides, test procedures, support materials).
• Collaborate with software, hardware, and integration engineers to support system updates and capability enhancements.
• Follow established engineering procedures, configuration management, and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline — or equivalent experience.
• 1–3 years of experience in software development, systems integration, or engineering support.
• Foundational knowledge of software programming languages, debugging techniques, and structured development practices.
• Familiarity with operating systems, networking principles, and software installation/configuration processes.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
• Effective written and verbal communication for status reporting and documentation.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented engineering environment and follow direction with general supervision.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with simulation devices, training systems, or defense-related software environments.
• Knowledge of system integration and interfacing with simulation platform software.
• Experience with version control systems and configuration management tools.
• Familiarity with distributed computing, networking protocols, or simulation networking technologies.
• Experience troubleshooting complex interactions between hardware, software, and integrated systems.
• Ability to develop or update detailed technical documentation for software and systems support.

Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role. Candidates must be eligible for a DoD Personnel Security Clearance and must comply with all security, data protection, and information-handling policies.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Work is performed in assembly shops, labs, and customer sites. Areas are typically climate-controlled, but occasional outdoor work may be required.

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working on computers or engineering tasks.
• Ability to walk through simulator bays, labs, and training areas as needed.
• May occasionally lift or move small equipment/components (up to ~25 lbs).
