The Athletic Trainer provides on-site athletic training services including injury prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for athletes across various levels during events and practices. This role involves collaboration with physicians, physical therapists, and community stakeholders to deliver comprehensive sports medicine care, maintain accurate records, and support athlete health and recovery in a part-time, evening shift capacity.

Role overview
Confidential Client is seeking a qualified Athletic Trainer to provide on-site athletic training services for school, college and community sports programs on a PRN / per-diem basis. This role supports prevention, assessment, first aid, treatment, reconditioning and rehabilitation of athletic injuries consistent with NATA BOC standards and local clinical guidelines. Schedule includes evening shifts with weekend and holiday rotation as needed.
What you’ll do
- Provide on-site athletic training services during practices, games, tournaments and related events.
- Perform injury prevention, assessment, first aid, taping/strapping and bracing.
- Implement and supervise reconditioning and rehabilitation programs under clinical direction.
- Carry out treatments and recommendations from team/program/event physicians and communicate with the interdisciplinary care team.
- Maintain accurate injury and treatment records in accordance with organizational guidelines.
- Assist with pre-participation physicals and document athlete/student progress appropriately for age group.
- Support physical therapists and other clinicians in executing treatment plans for sports and orthopedic conditions.
- Participate in off-site health screenings, education and community outreach events.
- Maintain, order and organize supplies required for evidence-based athletic care.
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field.
- Licensed Athletic Trainer upon hire (state licensure where required).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire.
- Graduate of an NATA-accredited athletic training program or an athletic trainer internship program.
- NATA BOC certification required (entry-level graduates with BOC certification will be considered).
- 1 year of relevant experience preferred; entry-level candidates with required certifications may be considered.
- Ability to work respectfully with patients/athletes of varied ages and diagnoses and to follow institutional policies and documentation practices.
Skills & competencies
- Strong clinical assessment and hands-on treatment skills (taping, strapping, bracing).
- Knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan and ability to adapt care to age-appropriate needs.
- Effective communication and collaboration with physicians, therapists, coaches, parents/guardians and other stakeholders.
- Attention to documentation, quality improvement and adherence to established protocols.
- Reliability for evening, weekend and holiday coverage as assigned.
Work location & schedule
- Location: Gettysburg, PA (on-site).
- Schedule: PRN / Per-diem; evening shift coverage (Monday–Friday evenings) with weekend and holiday rotation as needed.
