Overview
Confidential Client, a growing firm in the engineering and environmental services industry, is seeking an Associate Water/Wastewater Engineer to join their team in Rockford, IL. This is an early-career, hands-on engineering role focused on water and wastewater treatment projects. The position includes a guaranteed seat in the firm's Blueprint early-career leadership program and offers mentorship, practical project experience, and opportunities for professional growth.
What You’ll Do
- Provide water engineering design support — e.g., water treatment plant upgrades and lead service line replacement projects
- Provide wastewater engineering design support — e.g., treatment plant retrofits and resolving effluent exceedances
- Apply standard engineering practices, analyze and correlate data, and follow established procedures
- Draft technical reports, prepare plans, assist with specifications, and support preliminary equipment selection
- Communicate with clients to gather project data and share technical information
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and support project delivery tasks
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or closely related field)
- 2–4 years of relevant professional experience (recent graduates with internships are encouraged)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Solid analytical and organizational abilities
- A team-oriented mindset and willingness to learn in a structured mentorship environment
- Interest in water and wastewater design and regulatory compliance
Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated base pay: $73,478 per year (estimated)
