What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an Associate Underwriter for Construction Surety as part of a structured two-year associate program designed for early-career talent. In this role you will:

  • Gain hands-on underwriting experience in construction surety, supporting the dual underwriting process.
  • Contribute to team assignments and collaborative cohort projects to broaden organizational understanding.
  • Complete technical training and self-study to develop knowledge of surety products, marketplace appetite, and underwriting practices.
  • Perform basic financial analysis and develop financial acumen to support underwriting decisions.
  • Engage with mentors, managers, and executives to expand your professional network and accelerate career growth.
  • Assist with document review, risk assessment, and routine underwriting tasks under the guidance of senior underwriters.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Business, Risk Management/Insurance, Finance, Economics, Accounting majors preferred).
  • GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Preferred prior work experience such as internships, summer jobs, or part-time roles.
  • Preferred leadership or extracurricular involvement (clubs, community service, athletics, etc.).
  • Strong analytical aptitude and comfort working with financial information.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employment-based sponsorship; sponsorship is not available for this role.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base pay range: $60,000 to $75,000 per year (range disclosed per New Jersey pay-transparency requirements). The final offer will depend on skills and experience.
  • This role may be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program.
  • Confidential Client offers a comprehensive benefits package (health, retirement, paid time off, and other standard benefits); details provided by the employer.
