Role Overview

Confidential Client is hiring an Associate, Underwriter — Construction Surety for an early-career, cohort-based two-year Associate Program. This entry-level underwriting role in Readington, NJ offers structured technical training, hands-on underwriting experience, mentorship, and exposure to senior leaders. You will work on the construction surety product, learning dual underwriting processes, developing basic financial analysis skills, and contributing to team results.

What You’ll Do

• Participate in a two-year Associate Program with cohort-based learning, technical training, and on-the-job assignments.
• Support the construction surety underwriting process, including documentation review and risk assessment.
• Learn and apply the client’s surety appetite and marketplace principles to underwriting decisions.
• Contribute to dual underwriting activities with guidance from managers and senior underwriters.
• Perform basic financial analysis to support credit and risk evaluations.
• Collaborate on team projects and group assignments to build organizational knowledge.
• Engage with mentors and executives to accelerate professional growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required. Preferred majors: Business, Risk Management & Insurance (RMI), Finance, Economics, Accounting.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
• Preferred: prior work experience such as internships, summer jobs, or part-time roles.
• Preferred: leadership experience in work, community service, athletics, clubs, or other activities.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employment-based sponsorship.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base pay range: $60,000 to $75,000 per year. The specific offer will depend on skills and other factors. The role may be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive.
