Position summary
Confidential Client is hiring an Associate Trader to support trading and operations for model portfolios and advisor-managed accounts. This is an entry-level, hybrid role based in Lisle, IL. The team will provide on-the-job training; ideal candidates are detail-oriented, numerate, and eager to build a trading operations career in asset management.
What you’ll do
Confidential Client’s trading team executes daily trading activity to keep client portfolios aligned to model targets and to support advisor-directed changes. In this role you will:
- Analyze client portfolios, calculate trades, and execute transactions daily to maintain assigned portfolio targets (AIM, advisor, third-party strategist, and UMA targets)
- Manage day-to-day cash flows, address target drift from market moves, and implement allocation and rebalancing changes
- Perform tax-loss harvesting and other tax-aware trading actions where appropriate
- Maintain productive relationships with advisors, portfolio managers, custodians, third-party vendors, and internal operations and technology teams
- Support trading across multiple third-party distribution platforms and custodians
- Assist with onboarding and transitions of new advisor accounts, paying attention to tax implications, alternative/illiquid securities and account customizations
- Escalate operational risks and partner with technology and global operations to address process or system barriers
- Occasionally support the investment research team with research, analysis, and reporting during low-volume periods
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
What we’re looking for

- Familiarity with financial markets, money movement, trade attributes and realized gains
- Willingness and ability to learn Confidential Client’s trading software and to work with software from multiple custodians
- Advanced Excel skills are advantageous
- Creativity, curiosity about investing, and a desire to improve processes
Minimum & preferred qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred; interest in pursuing CFA/CFP/MBA is a plus
- Basic knowledge of financial products (managed portfolios, TAMP solutions, stocks, ETFs, mutual funds)
- Previous personal or professional trading experience is helpful but not required
- Strong interest in asset management and trading operations
Compensation & location
- Salary: $50,000–$60,000 per year plus bonus; room for negotiation based on experience

- Location: Lisle, IL (hybrid; role is based in the Lisle office)
