What You’ll Do

The Associate Technical Services supports product and process development from concept through pilot and commercialization. You’ll lead and participate in hands-on bench-top and pilot-plant work, coordinate technical project teams, and provide technical support to cross-functional partners to ensure successful product launches and manufacturing transfers.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead/support technical project teams to develop ingredient substitutions, innovations, and product/process changes.
  • Design and conduct experiments; collect, document, and analyze data to support R&D and plant trials.
  • Prepare and maintain manufacturing instructions and product specification documents.
  • Verify production follows approved manufacturing instructions during first production runs.
  • Facilitate product transfers by qualifying finished goods, components, and packaging, and ensuring Bills of Materials and specifications are complete.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, Marketing, and Corporate R&D to move projects from lab to pilot plant to launch.
  • Use project-management tools to track milestones, cutovers, and communications for Bill of Material and specification changes.
  • Provide troubleshooting and technical support to manufacturing and technical services teams to resolve production issues.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Meat Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Quality, Food Safety, R&D, or plant operations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Skills & Tools

  • Working knowledge of Quality Control and HACCP principles.
  • Experience with product formulation and basic food product development.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and willingness to learn enterprise software.
  • Hands-on lab experience and familiarity with pilot plant operations.
  • Ability to translate technical information for different audiences and work effectively across teams.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base pay range: $52,000 - $88,000 per year.
  • Annual Incentive Plan: Yes.
  • Relocation assistance: Eligible.
  • Additional compensation may include shift differentials, overtime, premiums, or bonuses depending on role and location.
  • Benefits typically include paid time off, 401(k), and medical/dental/vision coverage (subject to client plan details).

Additional Information & Requirements

  • Travel: Approximately 10% of the time.
  • This role reports to a Senior Manager.
