What You’ll Do

This role supports building-structure design and delivery work for the client’s Property and Buildings team. You will help produce safe, code-compliant structural solutions across residential, commercial, institutional, and mixed-use projects.

  • Assist with analysis, design, and detailing of steel, concrete, masonry, and foundation systems.
  • Develop structural models and engineering calculations using industry software (for example, SAFE, ETABS, RAM Structural Systems, Sp Column).
  • Prepare construction documents, technical reports, sketches, and 2D/3D illustrations.
  • Support construction administration activities, including review of submittals and coordination with contractors.
  • Collaborate with architects, MEP engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to resolve design and constructability issues.
  • Participate in site inspections and data collection to verify existing conditions and support design decisions.
  • Assist with risk identification, mitigation suggestions, and development of remediation strategies.
  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary team efforts and coordinate work plans and schedules.
  • Complete assigned training and maintain quality, safety, and compliance with applicable building codes and standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • 1–3 years of relevant post-education experience in structural engineering or related work.
  • Knowledge of structural engineering principles, design/build processes, codes, and construction practices.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure planning, rehabilitation, and new-design workflows.
  • Experience or exposure to discipline-specific software such as SAFE, ETABS, RAM Structural Systems, Sp Column, AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), and Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and sound professional judgment.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of project teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to safety and ability to follow company health, safety, and workplace conduct policies.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as project needs dictate; occasional travel may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or related field.
  • Prior internship or hands-on design experience.
  • Familiarity with design/build delivery and related concepts.
  • Active participation or membership in professional engineering organizations.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation range (expected): $90,000–$110,000 per year.
  • Benefits typically include medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, retirement savings, paid time off, parental leave, and other company-provided benefits. Specific benefits will be provided by the hiring organization.

  • Location: Manhattan, NY (local office-based role; hybrid or flexible models may be discussed during hiring).
