Role overview
Confidential Client is hiring entry-level and early-career software systems engineers to join a Strategic Deterrent Systems program in Huntsville, AL. This opening may be filled at one of two levels: Associate Software Systems Engineer (T01) or Software Systems Engineer (T02). You will work on software and systems engineering activities that support mission-critical defense systems using model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and modern digital engineering practices.
What You’ll Do
- Help create and update system- and software-relevant architecture artifacts that align with program constraints (cost, schedule, risk)
- Define and analyze requirements, support allocation and traceability, and document planned verification methods
- Assist with MBSE tools/methods and integrate digital engineering tools per the program plan/SEMP
- Support cross-functional teams to ensure software design meets system-level objectives
- Participate in design reviews, verification planning, and status reporting
Minimum qualifications
Note: candidates will be considered at either Associate (T01) or Software (T02) level depending on education and experience.
Associate Software Systems Engineer (T01) — must meet ALL:
- Completing or has completed a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Major in Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Development, or a closely related discipline
- U.S. citizenship required to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance
Software Systems Engineer (T02) — must meet ALL:
- Completing or has completed a master’s degree from an accredited institution
- Major in Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Development, or a closely related discipline
- U.S. citizenship required to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance
Preferred qualifications
- Overall cumulative GPA of 3.70/4.0 or higher
- Previous internship, co-op, or relevant work experience
- Demonstrated teamwork, leadership, and strong interpersonal communication skills
- Familiarity with MBSE tools and digital engineering toolchains
- Interest in defense/mission-critical systems and disciplined engineering practices
Compensation & additional details
- Salary ranges (provided by the client):
- Associate Software Engineer (T01): $72,700 - $109,100 per year
- Software Engineer (T02): $87,600 - $131,400 per year
- Relocation assistance: may be available
- Clearance: Clearance not required at start, but candidate must be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (Secret). U.S. citizenship is required.
