What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level, full‑time Associate Software Engineer (new college grads) to join a mission-driven engineering team in Redwood City. This is a hands-on role: you’ll ship production code in your first weeks and take ownership of features across the stack.
- Ship production features quickly and iterate—expect to see your code in production within hours or days.
- Build across the stack: UI components, API endpoints, and database queries.
- Own features end-to-end—from design discussions through implementation, testing, and deployment.
- Debug production issues, refactor legacy areas, and improve system reliability and performance.
- Participate actively in code reviews, architectural discussions, and sprint planning.
- Work directly with senior engineers, product managers, and designers; receive mentorship while driving your own work.
Qualifications / What You Bring
We evaluate real results (projects, internships, hackathons, open source) as much as coursework. Ideal candidates will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience — graduating between December 2026 and June 2027.
- Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and software design.
- Experience with at least one modern language (TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Java, etc.). Experience with TypeScript, React, or Node.js is a strong plus.
- Demonstrated projects that show you can build and ship real things.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across functions.
- A bias toward action — you prefer shipping and iterating over waiting for perfection.
- Grit and resourcefulness: you ask the right questions, debug effectively, and learn from mistakes.
Tech Stack — What You’ll Learn
You’ll gain hands‑on experience in a modern full‑stack environment, including:
- TypeScript across applications
- NestJS with TypeORM
- PostgreSQL and Redis
- React with a custom UI library (shadcn) and Tailwind CSS
- Continuous deployment workflows and production monitoring
Role Details & Logistics
- Employment type: Full‑time, entry level.
- Location: Redwood City, CA — this role is in‑person (office-based) with a hybrid schedule (approx. 3 days/week on-site).
- Start date: July 2027 (new college grads).
- Applicants must be based in the United States.
Why Join (for New Grads)
This role accelerates learning and responsibility. Instead of extended shadowing or toy projects, you’ll tackle real product problems, ship meaningful features, and scale quickly as an engineer. If you want fast growth, high ownership, and to be challenged daily, this role is designed for you.
