What You’ll Do

• Work with experienced engineers to design, build, test, and maintain enterprise software used across the Architectural, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry.
• Implement features and fixes in Java-based services and full-stack applications.
• Collaborate with product owners, QA, and other engineers to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Contribute to automated tests, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines to ensure delivery quality.
• Help maintain technical documentation and follow coding standards.
• Troubleshoot production issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain application code using Java, SQL, HTML, and JavaScript.
• Work with frameworks such as Spring and Hibernate/JPA to implement server-side features.
• Participate in design discussions and pair programming with senior engineers.
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests to support reliable releases.
• Use Git for version control and collaborate through merge requests and code reviews.
• Assist with deployment tasks and learn cloud deployment patterns (AWS).
• Maintain and update technical documentation and design notes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, related field, coding bootcamp completion, or equivalent experience.
• Foundational understanding of object-oriented programming in Java.
• Familiarity with Spring Framework and ORM concepts (Hibernate / JPA).
• Experience or familiarity with SQL, JDBC, and writing database queries.
• Working knowledge of Git and a modern Java IDE (IntelliJ IDEA preferred).
• Exposure to build tools such as Maven or Gradle.
• Comfortable learning and applying new frameworks and development tools.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in an engineering team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with full-stack development or familiarity with GWT / SmartGWT.
• Knowledge of servlet containers (e.g., Jetty) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD), and automated quality tools (SonarQube).
• Exposure to TestNG or similar testing frameworks.
• Previous experience in Agile development environments.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Typical office environment with low-to-moderate noise.
• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and occasional lifting (up to 10 pounds).
• May involve work near moving mechanical parts in certain settings.
• The role is primarily office-based in Phoenix, AZ; specific onsite/remote details will be provided by our client during the hiring process.
