Role overview

Confidential Client is hiring an Associate Software Engineer to join a platform engineering team focused on modernizing and building cloud-native solutions that prioritize scalability, reliability, automation, and operational efficiency. This early-career engineering role will contribute to design, development, testing, and deployment of services used in highly available environments and will provide hands-on exposure to Java, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, microservices, observability, search technologies, and AI-driven automation.

This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office (Frisco, TX).


What You’ll Do

  • Develop and implement software and platform services to meet customer requirements in scalable, highly available environments.
  • Design, build, test, and maintain software using modern engineering practices and object‑oriented languages (Java preferred).
  • Work with containerization and Kubernetes to deploy and support cloud-native applications.
  • Collaborate with platform, data, and application teams to build automation that reduces manual work and improves operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to AI and automation initiatives by developing intelligent workflows, tools, scripts, or applications.
  • Participate in the implementation and upkeep of microservices-based architectures and distributed systems.
  • Use logging and observability tools to monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize performance.
  • Help implement search, caching, and data retrieval solutions to improve application responsiveness and scale.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation including design notes, system diagrams, and runbooks.
  • Share ideas for continuous improvement and support other duties/projects as assigned.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree OR a combination of education and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Up to 2 years of technical engineering experience is preferred for this level.
  • Strong fundamentals: data structures & algorithms, object-oriented programming, REST APIs, testing/debugging.
  • Familiarity with version control tools (Git) and source code management.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills; ability to work well on a team.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Willing and able to work in the Frisco, TX office at least 3 days per week.
  • May require up to 5% travel based on business needs.

Preferred skills & technologies

  • Java development and full-stack fundamentals.
  • Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration.
  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Microservices and distributed systems concepts.
  • Search technologies (e.g., Elasticsearch) and caching strategies.
  • Observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Prometheus).
  • CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling.
  • Experience with AI/automation concepts, intelligent workflows, or agent development.
  • Experience from internships, academic projects, hackathons, or open-source contributions is welcome.

Compensation & benefits

  • National base pay range: $66,900 - $120,600 (base salary; actual pay depends on location, experience, and qualifications).
  • Total target cash earnings opportunity: $73,590 - $132,660 (includes base + target incentive).
