What You’ll Do
The Associate Software Engineer, AI will join a cross-functional engineering team and contribute to the development, testing, and maintenance of enterprise applications and AI-enabled features. This is an early-career, hands-on engineering role focused on learning modern software and AI practices while delivering reliable code and supporting production systems.
Responsibilities
- Assist in building and testing software applications, services, APIs, and AI-enabled features under guidance from senior engineers
- Contribute to development of ML-enabled application components, including work with LLMs, prompt engineering, embeddings, and GenAI APIs
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following established coding standards
- Participate in code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting in production and staging environments
- Support CI/CD pipelines, deployment activities, and automation efforts with mentor support
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly to increase productivity while validating outputs and following secure-coding standards
- Collaborate with product, data, and ML teams to translate business requirements into technical designs
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, design reviews, and continuous-improvement initiatives
- Continuously learn cloud technologies, software architecture fundamentals, and AI/ML concepts
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field
- Relevant experience from internships, academic projects, research, or early professional work in software development
- Foundational knowledge of software engineering principles: object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and basic system design
- Practical experience with at least one programming language such as Python, Java, C#, or JavaScript (coursework, projects, or professional)
- Familiarity with SDLC practices: source control, testing, debugging, and collaborative development workflows
- Basic understanding of APIs, web services, and databases
- Foundational knowledge or interest in cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
- Exposure to AI/ML concepts, LLMs, or prompt engineering
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn quickly in a team environment
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship or project experience building web apps, APIs, or UI components (React, Angular, .NET, Spring Boot, Node.js, etc.)
- Familiarity with Azure AI Services, Azure OpenAI, or other ML/GenAI services and APIs
- Experience with CI/CD, containerization, or DevOps practices
- Experience with relational or NoSQL databases and SQL
- Familiarity with Microsoft developer tools (GitHub, Visual Studio) or Power Platform
- Experience integrating chatbots or conversational UI components into front-end applications
- Comfortable using AI-assisted developer tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) while applying responsible validation and security checks
Compensation & Benefits
- Expected salary range: $78,300 — $87,000 per year (varies by experience)
