Position overview

Confidential Client is seeking an Associate Security Consultant (entry-level) to join their cybersecurity practice in Chicago, IL. This role is an early-career consulting position where you'll support client engagements across cloud security, identity and access management (IAM), threat monitoring, security operations, and governance/risk. Estimated compensation: $67,195 per year (estimated).


What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate with client teams and Confidential Client consultants to gather business and technical requirements and support security solution design
  • Contribute to enterprise access management initiatives (authentication, authorization, identity, secure access)
  • Participate across engagement phases: requirements analysis, solution design, implementation, testing, and operational support
  • Assist with security architecture, application security, cloud security, monitoring, and threat management activities
  • Work with modern cybersecurity platforms, automation tools, and AI-enhanced security operations technologies
  • Build practical experience across platforms, architectures, security domains, and consulting methods
  • Travel as required for client engagements (up to 100%)

Required technical & professional expertise

  • Familiarity with network architecture and network security principles (authentication, authorization, encryption protocols)
  • Exposure to one or more cybersecurity domains: Threat Management, Security Operations, Data & Application Security, Identity & Access Management, Cloud & Infrastructure Security, or Governance, Risk & Compliance
  • Working knowledge of one or more programming or scripting languages (Python, C/C++, Go/Golang, Bash, C#) and exposure to testing/automation or secure development practices
  • Experience with or exposure to security tools: vulnerability scanners, monitoring, firewalls, IDS/IPS, encryption, or network analysis
  • Understanding of cybersecurity operations concepts such as SIEM, SOAR, EDR, threat detection, and incident response workflows
  • Interest in automation, AI-assisted security operations, and modern cloud security practices
  • Willingness to travel up to 100%

Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Mathematics, MIS, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
  • Knowledge of network and application security, secure application development, or identity/authentication technologies
  • Exposure to enterprise platforms such as Microsoft Sentinel/Defender, CrowdStrike, Google SecOps, Palo Alto XSIAM, Splunk, or related SIEM/SOAR/EDR products
  • Industry coursework or certifications (CompTIA Security+, CISSP or similar) are a plus
